River Sheaf: water levels along the river

3 gauges report along the River Sheaf. 2 are below normal for the date and 1 above. Low and high readings are fairly evenly spread.

The gauges are in South Yorkshire. Reading the gauges in order shows how a rise or a dry spell travels downstream, usually over a day or more on a big river. Autumn is often a low point for rivers after the summer, until steady rain returns.

About the River Sheaf

River Sheaf

The River Sheaf in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, flows northwards, past Dore, through Abbeydale and north of Heeley. It then passes into a culvert, through which it flows under the centre of Sheffield before joining the River Don. This lower section of the River Sheaf, together with the Don between the Blonk Street and Lady's Bridges, formed two sides of the boundary of Sheffield Castle.
