River Gade: water levels along the river

2 gauges report along the River Gade. 2 of them read below normal for the date, and none is running high.

The gauges are in Hertfordshire. Reading the gauges in order shows how a rise or a dry spell travels downstream, usually over a day or more on a big river. Autumn is often a low point for rivers after the summer, until steady rain returns.

About the River Gade

River Gade

The River Gade is a chalk stream running almost entirely through Hertfordshire. It rises from a spring in the chalk of the Chiltern Hills at Dagnall, Buckinghamshire and flows through Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, then along the west side of Watford through Cassiobury Park. After passing Croxley Green it reaches Rickmansworth, where it joins the River Colne. For its whole course the Gade is unnavigable, with the exception of a short section in Apsley, Hertfordshire where. it forms a section of the Grand Union Canal.
