River Chess: water levels along the river

We have 2 gauges on the River Chess. Every gauge with a normal range is reading within it.

The gauges on this page are spread across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. Reading the gauges in order shows how a rise or a dry spell travels downstream, usually over a day or more on a big river. Autumn is often a low point for rivers after the summer, until steady rain returns.

About the River Chess

River Chess

The River Chess is a chalk stream that rises near Chesham in the Chiltern Hills in England, and flows for 11 miles (18 km) through Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire to its confluence with the River Colne in Rickmansworth. The Chess, along with the Colne and Gade, gives rise to the name of the district of Three Rivers.
