River Kennet: water levels along the river

6 gauges report along the River Kennet. 4 of them read below normal for the date, and none is running high.

The gauges on this page are spread across Berkshire and Wiltshire. Reading the gauges in order shows how a rise or a dry spell travels downstream, usually over a day or more on a big river. Autumn is often a low point for rivers after the summer, until steady rain returns.

About the River Kennet

River Kennet

The Kennet is a chalk river and a tributary of the River Thames in Southern England. Most of the river is straddled by the North Wessex Downs National Landscape. The lower reaches have been made navigable as the Kennet Navigation, which – together with the Avon Navigation, the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Thames – links the cities of Bristol and London.
