What this means
The River Meon at East Meon is running at a record low at 0.04 m.
No reading on record has been lower: the old record low was 0.10 m, from September 6, 2004. The usual range here runs from 0.10 m to 0.65 m.
It has barely moved over the past 24 hours. Without real rain upstream, that is unlikely to change quickly.
Autumn rain usually starts to lift rivers again after the summer low.

At low levels, many rivers become a walk-and-paddle trip. Fish hold in deeper pools and spook easily.
