River Stour: water levels along the river

19 gauges report along the River Stour. 11 of them read below normal for the date, and none is running high.

The gauges on this page are spread across West Midlands, Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Suffolk. Reading the gauges in order shows how a rise or a dry spell travels downstream, usually over a day or more on a big river. Autumn is often a low point for rivers after the summer, until steady rain returns.

About the River Stour

River Stour, Kent

The River Stour is a river in Kent, England that flows into the North Sea at Pegwell Bay. Above Plucks Gutter, where the Little Stour joins it, the river is normally known as the Great Stour. The upper section of the river, above its confluence with the East Stour at Ashford is sometimes known as the Upper Great Stour or West Stour. In the tidal lower reaches, the artificial Stonar Cut short cuts a large loop in the natural river.
